In The Economist December 4, 2003 William Gibson wrote: “The future is already here – it’s just not evenly distributed.  A global sweep clearly proves the truth of his statement.  Before the recent economic crisis a full 70% of the Western economy was driven by consumption but today retail is in big trouble. We now know this level of consumption is not sustainable.  We’ve been fortunate that the Chinese are still consuming, but for how long?  Where to from here?  C.S.Lewis wrote, Gratitude looks to the past and love to the present; fear, avarice, lust, and ambition look ahead.”  Who was it looking in another direction who said,”A man’s life does not consist of the abundance of his possessions.”  There are other things to invest in.
